    Summary of development: The Warwick Child Health and Morbidity Profile is a parent-reported profile of health and illness.  It includes both health-related quality of life questions as well as questions about illness and healthcare utilization.  We did not find any references for this measure beyond the first development report.

    WHOQOL-BREF

    Generic-Specific Modules

    Measure domains: Physical; psychological; social relationships; environmental; global QoL and health satisfaction

    Summary of development: This was originally an adult measure, but it has been used and validated with adolescents. The measure is based on the World Health Organization definition of Quality of Life. The WHOQOL-BREF is 26 questions from the WHOQOL-100.  Countries involved in the development of the WHOQOL-BREF were: Australia, Croatia, France, India, Israel, Japan, Netherlands, Panama, Russia, Spain, Thailand, UK, USA, and Zimbabwe. Field Testing was done in all previously mentioned countries and Argentina, Canada, China, Brazil, Germany, Hong Kong, Norway, Pakistan, Hungary, Sweden, Turkey, Denmark, Malaysia.  This summary includes only evidence of validity in adolescents where some of the validation data used the English version of the WHOQOL-BREF.  There are several studies of the WHOQOL-BREF in other languages that are not included.

    Summary of development: The development of the YQoL is described in three companion articles: Topolski 2001, Edwards 2002, and Patrick 2002. There are also disease-specific versions: Youth Quality of Life Instrument – Facial Differences module (YQOL-FD) (Patrick et al., 2007), (2) Youth Quality of Life Instrument – Weight module (YQOL-W) (Morales et al., 2011), and (3) Youth Quality of Life Instrument – Deafness and Hard of Hearing module (YQOL-DHH) (Patrick et al., 2011).

    There are multiple available versions of the YQoL.  The YQoL-R (Research), the YQoL-S (Surveillance), and the YQoL-SF (short form).  There are several versions of each form with different numbers of items (even within the instrument’s website).   We have summarize the most often used versions below.
